Admins in Device Rescue have the ability to delete assets from their company's inventory. However, asset deletion is highly restricted to protect important history, assignments, and records.
Important Rules for Deleting Assets
-
Only Admins can delete assets
-
Deletion is permanent — deleted assets cannot be recovered
-
To delete an asset, it must meet one of the following conditions:
-
Unassigned (not linked to a team member or office branch)
-
Retired (no longer active or in circulation)
-
You cannot delete an asset if it is:
-
Currently assigned to a team member or office branch
-
En route to the warehouse (in retrieval process)
-
Stored at the warehouse
-
Being shipped to a team member or office branch
🛑 In short: The asset must be either Unassigned or Retired before deletion is allowed.
Why We Recommend Retiring Instead of Deleting
Retiring an asset allows you to:
-
Preserve assignment history
-
Retain notes and documents attached to the asset
-
Maintain accurate audit trails for your records
Deleting an asset erases all of this information permanently. For most cases, retiring is the better option to maintain your company's historical data integrity.
