When assets assigned to an office branch are returned, you can manually mark them as returned without requiring a retrieval kit. This feature supports flexible employee equipment retrieval service operations and IT asset retrieval management at the branch level.
Important Notes:
-
Mark Returned is used when an asset is physically received back and you want to update your asset records.
-
This is different from initiating a retrieval kit order.
(Retrieval Kits are used to ship and recover devices; Mark Returned is for manually closing out an asset assignment.)
How to Mark an Asset Returned:
-
Go to the Office Branch where the asset is assigned.
-
Find the asset listed under Assignments.
-
Click the Actions dropdown next to the asset.
-
Select Mark Returned.
-
In the pop-up modal:
-
Enter the Returned Date (the date you physically received the device back).
-
(Optional) Add a Note about the return (e.g., "Device returned in good condition.").
-
-
Click Confirm & Return.
Heads Up: Marking an asset as returned will unassign it from the office branch and move the asset into an unassigned status. You can then reassign, store, or retire the device as needed.
When to Use Branch-Level Return Tracking
Local Equipment Returns: When employees return laptop retrieval service equipment directly to office locations during standard offboarding device collection processes.
Branch Consolidation: During office relocations or downsizing when IT equipment retrieval involves collecting assets from branch locations.
Hybrid Work Transitions: When remote workers return to office branches and surrender equipment as part of remote employee asset recovery operations.
End-of-Lease Processing: When branch offices process bulk equipment returns for lease renewals or IT asset retrieval service requirements.
Best Practices for Branch Asset Management
Immediate Processing: Mark assets as returned promptly when received to maintain accurate employee equipment retrieval service records across all branch locations.
Detailed Documentation: Use the Note field to record asset condition, any accessories included, or special circumstances related to the remote device pickup service alternative.
Verification Process: Implement a standard checklist for verifying returned equipment before marking assets as returned in the system.
Coordination with IT: Ensure branch managers coordinate with IT teams for remote worker device collection processes that affect multiple locations.
Managing Multi-Branch Equipment Operations
Branch-level return tracking supports comprehensive IT equipment retrieval strategies by:
- Enabling decentralized processing of equipment returns
- Supporting offboarding device collection at multiple physical locations
- Maintaining centralized visibility across distributed operations
- Facilitating asset redistribution between branch locations
Asset Status Management After Return
Once marked as returned, assets become available for:
- Reassignment to new employees at the same or different branches
- Transfer to other branch locations based on IT asset retrieval service needs
- Retirement or disposal following organizational policies
- Inventory management and asset lifecycle tracking
Integration with Centralized Retrieval Operations
Branch-level return tracking complements your broader employee equipment retrieval service operations by providing flexibility for mixed scenarios where some equipment is returned locally while other assets require remote employee asset recovery through shipping and logistics coordination.
This hybrid approach optimizes both cost efficiency and operational flexibility across your organization's equipment management processes.
