Device Rescue offers optional Shipping Protection Plans for eligible Retrieval Kit™ services and Warehouse Shipment orders.
Shipping Protection Plans help protect eligible shipments against loss, damage, or theft while in transit. This article explains coverage eligibility, filing deadlines, documentation requirements, exclusions, reimbursement limits, and how to submit and manage a Shipping Protection claim.

This article applies only to Shipping Protection Plans purchased on or after June 10, 2026.
What Is Covered?
Shipping Protection Plans provide coverage for eligible shipments that are lost, damaged, or stolen after the carrier accepts the package.
Lost
The carrier accepts the package, but the shipment is not delivered.
Damaged
The package is delivered, but the contents are physically damaged during transit.
Stolen
The package shows delivered by the carrier but was not received by the recipient.
Coverage Limits & Eligibility
- A Shipping Protection Plan must be purchased for the shipment.
- The package must receive an official carrier acceptance scan.
- Coverage is limited to the purchased protection amount.
- Reimbursement is based on the fair market value of the item immediately prior to shipment.
- The shipment must be properly packaged.
- The shipment must not contain excluded items.
- Required documentation must be provided.
Maximum Coverage Amount
Coverage is limited to the amount of Shipping Protection purchased for the shipment.
Approved claims will be reimbursed for the documented fair market value of the contents up to the purchased protection amount, whichever is less.
Device Rescue does not reimburse amounts exceeding the purchased protection amount. Shipping Protection is not replacement cost coverage beyond the purchased protection amount.
Claim Filing Deadlines
Claims must be submitted within the applicable timeframe below.

Claims submitted outside of these timeframes may not be eligible for coverage.
Filing a Claim
Follow the steps below to submit and manage a Shipping Protection claim.
Gather Information
Collect your tracking number, proof of value, photos if applicable, and supporting documentation.
Submit Your Claim
Complete the Shipping Protection Claim Form and upload all required documentation.
Claim Review
Device Rescue will review the submission and may request additional information.
Resolution
If approved, reimbursement will be issued up to the purchased protection amount.

Device & Electronics Requirements
Serial Number Verification
For any individual item with a claimed value exceeding $500 USD, Device Rescue may require serial number verification.
Functional Damage Only
Coverage applies to damage that materially affects operation, functionality, or intended use.
Fair Market Value
Reimbursement is based on fair market value immediately prior to shipment, not original purchase price alone.
Serial Number Verification
For any individual item with a claimed value exceeding $500 USD, Device Rescue may require serial number verification before a claim can be approved.
Acceptable verification may include purchase invoices, asset management records, inventory records, manufacturer records, or photos showing the serial number.
Functional Damage Requirement
Coverage applies to physical damage that materially impacts the normal operation, functionality, or intended use of the covered item.
Examples of covered functional damage may include cracked displays affecting usability, broken ports or connectors, physical damage preventing normal operation, or damage preventing a device from powering on.
Cosmetic damage, including minor scratches, dents, scuffs, paint damage, surface blemishes, or packaging wear, is not covered unless it materially affects the functionality of the item.
Fair Market Value
Reimbursement is based on the fair market value of the item immediately prior to shipment.
Device Rescue may consider the original purchase date, original purchase price, current market value, equipment age, condition prior to shipment, depreciation, and comparable resale values.
The original purchase price alone does not determine claim value.
Recovered Shipment After Claim Payment
If reimbursement is issued for a lost shipment and the shipment is later recovered, Device Rescue may require repayment of the reimbursement amount or transfer of ownership and possession of the recovered property.
Failure to cooperate with recovery efforts may result in denial of future claims and collection efforts where permitted by law.
Salvage Rights
If a claim is approved for damaged property, Device Rescue may require possession of the damaged item, packaging materials, or related shipment materials.
Property surrendered under this provision becomes the property of Device Rescue. Failure to surrender requested property may result in denial or reversal of reimbursement.
Coverage Exclusions
Shipping Protection does not cover:
- Shipments that never received a carrier acceptance scan
- Improperly packaged shipments
- Inadequate packaging materials
- Pre-existing damage
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect functionality
- Manufacturer defects
- Normal wear and tear
- Delayed deliveries or missed delivery commitments
- Rejected, refused, or returned shipments
- Customs seizures or government confiscation
- Incorrect or incomplete shipping information supplied by the sender
- Fraudulent claims
- Force majeure events
- Acts of war, terrorism, or civil unrest
- Carrier service failures unrelated to loss, damage, or theft
Excluded Items
The following items are not eligible for coverage:
- Cash or currency
- Gift cards or gift certificates
- Negotiable instruments
- Stocks or bonds
- Precious metals, bullion, loose gemstones, or jewelry
- Firearms or ammunition
- Hazardous materials
- Illegal goods
- Live animals
- Perishable goods
- Human remains
- Cryptocurrency wallets containing digital assets
- Items prohibited by the carrier
Device Data and Software
Shipping Protection covers only eligible physical property.
Coverage does not extend to data loss, software loss, software licenses, data recovery services, configuration costs, lost productivity, business interruption, loss of goodwill, or consequential damages.
Claim Review & Processing Time
Claim review begins once all required documentation has been received.
Device Rescue may request additional documentation at any stage of the review process. Incomplete claims may be closed if requested information is not provided within 30 days.
While Device Rescue strives to review and resolve claims within 90 days, processing times may vary based on claim complexity, carrier investigations, documentation requirements, and shipment history review.
Claim processing timelines are estimates only and do not constitute a guarantee of payment or claim approval within any specific timeframe.
Claim Decisions
Claims may be approved, partially approved, denied, or returned for additional information.
Device Rescue will determine claim eligibility and reimbursement amounts based on this policy, available documentation, carrier records, and applicable shipment details.
Fraud Prevention
Device Rescue reserves the right to investigate any claim and verify all information submitted.
Claims may be denied if documentation is incomplete, altered, misleading, fraudulent, or if ownership, shipment details, or item value cannot be verified.
Device Rescue reserves the right to report suspected fraud to carriers, law enforcement, or other appropriate authorities.
Limitation of Liability
The Shipping Protection Plan is limited solely to reimbursement of eligible losses up to the purchased protection amount.
Device Rescue shall not be liable for consequential damages, indirect damages, special damages, punitive damages, lost profits, lost revenue, business interruption, data loss, loss of goodwill, or any amount exceeding the purchased protection amount.
Frequently Asked Questions
Claims may be filed by the purchaser of the Shipping Protection Plan or an authorized account representative.
Approved reimbursements are issued to the purchaser of the Shipping Protection Plan or the account holder associated with the protected shipment.
Reimbursement is based on the documented fair market value of the covered item immediately prior to shipment, up to the purchased protection amount, whichever is less.
Device Rescue may require repayment of the reimbursement amount or transfer of ownership and possession of the recovered property.
Device Rescue strives to review and resolve claims within 90 days after all required documentation has been received, but processing times may vary.
